None of us are immune to making choices that have made an impact on our sense of personal freedom. Our mistakes have a way of creating a sense of isolation inside of our past. In this message ‘Escape Room’ Pastor Erwin McManus teaches us that Jesus holds the key to our escape. We were never meant to live locked inside the past.

When we love to judge, Jesus loves to defend. In John 8:2-11 Jesus is found in a crowd of people accusing a woman who has been caught in adultery. In the story, Jesus addresses the hypocrisy of those who are judging her. He tells them that the one who has not sinned is the only one qualified to punish her. As they freeze, Jesus stands in her defense and releases her from her guilt.

Judgment reveals who we are. The measure we use to judge others reveals the inner turmoil that we have yet to confront. Though God knows us inside-out, He is eager to extend forgiveness to us. Only Jesus can truly give us the map out of our escape room. Only God knows how to unlock our greatest future. Our job is to surrender and give God the opportunity to defend us, and chose to escape when Jesus sets us free.

“If you want to find your way out of the escape room, you need to let Jesus be your defense.” -Erwin McManus
